1. What are some of the things you appreciate most about Fayette County? For me, it is the people of Fayette County. I have been able to make many friends and many business acquaintances since I have been here. I believe Fayette County offers a true “Hometown” feel. With the largest city in the county having approx. 7,800 residents, the county continues to maintain a very low key, small town vibe that is very appealing to a lot of people.
2. What was your motivation to attend Leadership Fayette?
I believe that being a Leader is important and as a business owner in Fayette county, I believe that this is a goal that I should always strive for. My motivation to attend Leadership Fayette was to improve my leadership skills, to develop new contacts with other county leaders and to learn more about the county – its government, economic development & history. I also wanted to find outlets where I might be able to serve my community and this county.
3. What have you personally gotten out of your involvement in Leadership Fayette?
Personally, I was able to learn a lot about the History of Fayette County, experience Tennessee government at the local, regional & state levels, and connect with other leaders in Fayette County.
4. How did attending Leadership Fayette influence you as a leader?
Leadership Fayette inspires you to Lead. If you see opportunities where you might serve you know that you have the skills and qualities to move into that leadership role.
5. Would you encourage others to get involved with Leadership Fayette? Why?
Of course. I believe many people have the mind and skill sets to be a leader. Maybe they are held back by their own self-image, but you can do anything if you truly believe you can. Leadership Fayette is going to open your eyes to your community’s people, its businesses and its history that makes Fayette County what it is today. Leadership Fayette gives you a direction to see opportunities where you might fit in to Lead in service to your community.
6. What positive impact are you planning on having on Fayette County as a result of attending Leadership Fayette?
I own an insurance agency that is located in the heart of Somerville on the town square. Insurance is an opportunity to help our policyholders out in times of need. A lot of people may have a negative perception of insurance, but I look at my business as a way to help the community when they are faced with an unfortunate circumstance. Helping others is an important part of leadership.
7. How did attending Leadership Fayette prepare you for your current and/or next career?
If I am going to be a Leader I need to perform as a Leader. We strive for Excellence in our agency. If I Lead my employees and help to inspire them to achieve Excellence, I believe that they will be successful in this business.
