1. What are some of the things you appreciate most about Fayette County?
I appreciate the friendliness of the people and the opportunity to be acquainted with the elected leaders. My fellow church members have become good friends. I also enjoy being acquainted with the local business owners who recognize you after you have visited a couple of times such as banks, hardware store, lumber and electrical companies. I guess I'm saying it is the small town atmosphere that I enjoy.
2. What was your motivation to attend Leadership Fayette?
I was nominated by a friend and thought it would be good to get to know as much as possible about my adopted county.
3. What have you personally gotten out of your involvement in Leadership Fayette?
I feel that it has given me more of a sense of belonging and being a part of the county. Since moving here I have always wanted to be a "full time" citizen of the county by doing as much business here as possible, worshiping here and developing a social life here. I have lived here almost 20 years now and always enjoy talking about the county with those that have been here for multiple generations.
4. How did attending Leadership Fayette influence you as a leader?
I would refer back to the previous question and answer and the sense of belonging. I consider myself more of a helper than a leader. I don't seek the limelight but it is sometimes thrust on me. I simply do the best that I can on anything I have agreed to take on.
5. Would you encourage others to get involved with Leadership Fayette? Why?
I would encourage and have encouraged others to take advantage of what Leadership Fayette has to offer. It gives participants a hands-on approach to the major functions and activities of the county. The more one knows the more comfortable you will be as you participate in your life here.
6. What positive impact are you planning on having on Fayette County as a result of attending Leadership Fayette?
I would not say that I do that kind of planning but plan to the best of my ability to carry out any and all responsibilities I have acquired.
7. How did attending Leadership Fayette prepare you for your current and/or next career?
I have been retired for several years so I am no longer concerned about a career. However, my retirement has been busy enough to occasionally wonder when I ever had time for a career.
8. What year did you graduate from Leadership Fayette?
I graduated from Leadership Fayette in 2008 and have always been pleased to have completed that class.
